Sourav Ganguly takes dig at Virat Kohli fans for twisting his tweet on Shubman Gill

Ganguly is never a person to take social media to either reply to criticism or take a jibe at someone, but the former India captain broke his tradition to openly criticise some fans for intentionally demeaning his tweet.

Shubman Gill played a fantastic knock in Gujarat Titans’ final league game against RCB. Virat Kohli and GIll both scored centuries in the match but Gill’s one won GT the game and subsequently knocked RCB out of the tournament.

Ganguly, who is known to be a massive fan of Gill, took to Twitter and expressed his praise for the young batter.

“What talent this country produces .. shubman gill .. wow .. two stunning knocks in two halves .. IPL.. .. what standards in the tournament,” Ganguly wrote on Twitter.

His Tweet clearly didn’t mention Virat Kohli’s name but it definitely could be comprehended that Ganguly also credited Kohli for his stunning knock.

But few fans took other meanings of Ganguly’s tweet and started to lambast the former India captain for not mentioning Kolhi’s name. A set of fans also perceived the other knock meant about MI batter Cameron Green who also scored a century in the other match between MI and SRH earlier on Sunday (May 21).

After being heavily criticised on social media, Ganguly has come up with a strong reply, in his aggressive batting style.

“Just a quick reminder.. hope those of you twisting this tweet, understand English .. if don’t please get someone responsible to explain ..” Ganguly tweeted on Tuesday.

Ganguly and Kohli have had their share of controversy this season. The pair avoided a handshake earlier this IPL season after a match between RCB and DC. They subsequently unfollowed each other on Instagram as well.
