The southpaw was in top form throughout the month of March. In the three match home ODI series against England, Shakib emerged as the leading wicket-taker and run-scorer for Bangladesh. In Bangladesh’s only win in the series, he scored 75 runs off 71 balls and then picked four wickets.
He carried the form in the following T20I series as Bangladesh registered their first-ever series win over England. The Shakib-led side whitewashed the reigning Men’s T20 World Champions 3-0. The number one ranked all-rounder picked a wicket in each of the three T20Is while finishing the game for his side in the opening match with an unbeaten 24-ball 34.
Shakib was at the top of his game against the visiting Ireland side later in the month. He scored a match-winning 93 in the first ODI. In the following T20I series, he smashed a 24-ball 38 not out in the second game and then went to pick up five wickets for 22 runs in the powerplay to help Bangladesh take an unassailable 2-0 lead with a 77-run win.
Overall, in the 12 games played in March, Shakib scored 353 runs and picked 15 wickets.

“This is a recognition I greatly value because there are so many special performances in a month from a number of amazing cricketers.
“If I was to pick my highlight from the past month, it has to be the T20 series sweep against England and, with the team continuing to perform beautifully as a unit in all departments, it is easier for me now to concentrate on my role and contribute,” he added.
