This match will be RCB’s second on their home ground. In the first match they defeated Mumbai Indians by eight wickets. However, they ended up losing their second match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata by 81 runs.
LSG, on the other hand, have won two of their first three matches. After beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in their tournament opener, the KL Rahul-led side lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 12 runs. They bounced back to a win by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets on Friday.
Ahead of the match, let’s have a look at the top four players who can end up with the most wickets in the RCB vs LSG match.
Faf du Plessis: RCB captain Faf du Plessis will be a batter to watchout for in the upcoming contest. The 38-year-old has scored 96 runs in two matches at an average of 49 and a strike rate of 174.54. Interestingly, the former South Africa star has played two matches against LSG and scored 96 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 147.69.
His 12-ball 23 was the highest by an RCB batter in their last match against KKR. In the first match against Mumbai Indians, he scored 73 runs off 43 balls.
Genn Maxwell: The upcoming match could be the match which can witness ‘Big Show’ Glenn Maxwell fire for the first time in IPL 2023. He scored 12 unbeaten runs in the first match against MI. In the second match, he was dismissed for five runs.
Maxwell was in sublime form during the pre-season inter-squad match which saw him score unbeaten 78 runs (including six sixes) off just 46 balls at the Chinnaswamy.
Quinton de Kock: The South African superstar is yet to play a match in the IPL 2023. But the wait is very likely to come to an end on Monday. He recently featured in a home T20I series against West Indies and scored 100 runs off just 44 balls in the second T20I.
The innings was studded with nine fours and eight sixes. De Kock has a superb record against RCB. He has played 11 innings and scored 371 runs at an average of 33.72 and a strike rate of 142.14.
KL Rahul: LSG captain KL Rahul top-scored for his side in the match against SRH with 35 runs off 31 balls. He scored eight runs against DC and 20 against CSK. The batter’s poor run in international cricket has shown its effect in the IPL as well.
However, his home ground M Chinnaswamy could emerge as the place where he comes back to his original self. Notably, he played for Karnataka in domestic cricket and has represented RCB in the past.
The 30-year-old’s record against RCB is just excellent. He has played 12 innings against RCB and scored 610 runs at an average of 76.25 and a strike rate of 147.69. He also has a hundred to his name against the opposition.
