MS Dhoni surpass Quinton de Kock to hold huge wicketkeeping record in T20 Cricket


MS Dhoni’s career is orchestrated with accolades, records and achievements. The former Indian captain has achieved many excellent things during his international career, and has been the same when it comes to franchise cricket.

He has won T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup as India captain, won the Champions Trophy, and also has lifted the IPL 4 times. In terms of individual records, there are many that the veteran has achieved.

And there is a new achievement on his bucket list now. MS Dhoni became the wicketkeeper with most catches in T20 cricket.

The Chennai Super Kings captain achieved the record in CSK’s IPL 2023 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday (April 21). Dhoni completed a fantastic catch in the bowling of Maheesh Theekshana to dismiss the SRH captain Aiden Markram.

And upon completing that, he has now become the keeper with the most T20 catches. The 41-year-old took his 208th T20 catch in the match, and thus surpassed South Africa player Quinton de Kock, who has 207 catches to his name.

Quinton de Kock is also part of the IPL 2023 as he represents Lucknow Super Giants. Another Indian player Dinesh Karthik is 3rd on the list with 205 catches. Karthik is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in this IPL season.
