LKN lost to Chennai Super Kings in Chennai while SRH succumbed to a sizable defeat against Rajasthan Royals at home. LKN, however, have tasted victory this season as the KL Rahul-led side thrashed Delhi Capitals with an all-round display.
LKN vs SRH injury update
LKN injury update Lucknow Super Giants will continue to be without pacer Mohsin Khan while their South African batter Quinton de Kock has joined the squad in a timely boost after completing international commitments.
Key players De Kock’s availability also leads to a selection headache as in his absence, Kyle Mayers has slammed two half-centuries and will be hard to drop. De Kock, on the other hand, couldn’t score big against the Netherlands in ODIs but did score a century 10 days ago against West Indies. Skipper KL Rahul is yet to shine this IPL with knocks of 8 and 20 while Deepak Hooda has struggled to be among runs again.
Among other foreign players, Marcus Stoinis found some form with an 18-ball 21 and could be asked to play the role of impact substitute to make space for De Kock. Nicholas Pooran continues to play vital knocks down the order while Ayush Badoni provides further depth down the order. It’s worth noting that Stoinis wasn’t asked to bowl in the CSK match with plenty of bowling options.
Among bowlers, Mark Wood will be carrying high expectations as he took a fifer in his last game at the stadium. Avesh Khan will be carrying the new-ball duty while Ravi Bishnoi is expected to be the key mean in spin bowling after a consistent show in the first two games.
SRH injury update South African Aiden Markram is available for the game and will be leading the side after completing his national team duties. There are no injury concerns reported from the team as of yet.
SRH key players Markram and Mayank Agarwal are the key men for SRH in the top order. Markram scored a stunning 175 in his last international match while Agarwal was among the only top-order batter to score some runs (27) in the last game.
Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Verma had bad outings in the last game but remain vital to SRH’s ambitions this season. Sahal Abdul Samad made a positive start to IPL 2023 with a knock of 32 not out after coming out as an impact sub.
Among all-rounders, Washington Sundar gave an impactless performance with the bat and ball in the last game. Among bowlers, T Natarajan and Fazalhaq Farooqi picked two wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar went wicketless. The senior Indian pacer, however, remains the sides’ main strike bowler, especially with the new ball.
Pace merchant Umran Malik bowled a cracker to leave Devdutt Paddikal stunned in the last game and is expected to do more of the same. Among spinners, English spinner Adil Rashid couldn’t take a wicket but showed his hands with the bat later on.
