Reigning champions GT, on the other hand, defeated record champions Mumbai Indians by 55 runs at home after an impressive win over Lucknow Super Giants in a low-scoring thriller in Lucknow.
Before those two results, GT lost at home to Rajasthan Royals. Earlier in the season, they registered victories over CSK and DC before a defeat to KKR, but the holders bounced back with a victory over PBKS.
