After winning the toss, SRH captain Markram said: “We’ll bowl first. Looks like a good surface. The atmosphere has been pretty calm, hopefully we can get a win. Two new caps are Klaasen and Mayank Markande.”
Matthew Short earlier received his IPL debut cap from PBKS coach Trevor Bayliss and the side’s captain confirmed the news during the toss. “We wanted to bat first. We’d like to put a big total,” said Dhawan. “We have a good team environment. We have a good mix of experience and youth. Short comes in for Bhanuka Rajapaksha.”
Punjab Kings Playing 11: Shikhar Dhawan(c), Prabhsimran Singh, Matthew Short, Jitesh Sharma(w), Shahrukh Khan, Sam Curran, Nathan Ellis, Mohit Rathee, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh
Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing 11: Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram(c), Heinrich Klaasen(w), Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Umran Malik, T Natarajan
Pitch report by Simon Doull and Simon Katich on JioCinema: “We’ve moved from red soil to black soil. It’s certainly dry. We can see a few cracks. The team winning the toss will potentially bat first. Expect a little bit of swing with the new ball.
“Should spin a little bit more than we saw the other day. It’s devoid of grass as well. All in all, a pretty good surface. Bat first, put runs on the board.”
