IPL 2023: Virat Kohli completes ‘unique hundred’, Shikhar Dhawan next in line to achieve rare feat

He achieved the feat in the seventh over of the match after a running double off Rahul Chahar. Kohli, who is leading RCB in the match with regular captain Faf du Plessis not fully fit and playing just an Impact player, scored 59 runs off 47 balls in the match.

It was his 53rd fifty-plus score in the IPL. Only David Warner (62) has more fifty-plus scores in the tournament history. Dhawan (51) is third on the list followed by AB de Villiers (43) and Rohit Sharma (42).

Kohli also holds the record for most IPL runs. He has amassed 6903 runs in 229 matches at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 129.63. He has joint second-highest number of hundreds to his name as well. He is one hundred behind Chris Gayle’s tally of six hundreds. Jos Buttler has also scored five IPL hundreds.

The swashbuckling batter is currently the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2023. He has scored 279 runs at an average of 55.80 and a strike rate of 142.34. In his six innings, Kohli has smashed four fifties.
