IPL 2023: MS Dhoni on the verge of huge milestone and surpass Virat Kohli, can he make it?

Dhoni has played as Chennai’s captain for most of the seasons, but also captained the Rising Pune Supergiants franchise when CSK were banned for two years.

Dhoni, who is 41, has looked in superb knick in the brief number of balls he has played so far in the tournament. Dhoni completed 5000 IPL runs recently, and can go to the summit of another milestone this season.

Dhoni, so far, has scored 4582 IPL runs in 212 innings. The veteran is the second-highest scorer in the tournament as a captain and is just 299 runs behind RCB player Virat Kohli. Kohli scored 4881 runs in 140 innings as IPL captain but stepped down from leadership duties last season.

With Kohli not captaining in IPL anymore, Dhoni can become the highest run-scorer in IPL as captain if he can score 300 runs in this tournament. The former India captain is poised to play his last season in IPL this year, and thus he may have around 12 to 14 innings to achieve the milestone.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is ranked 3rd in the list, with 3675 runs as IPL captain, while Delhi Capitals’ skipper David Warner has scored 2933 runs while being an IPL captain.
