Siraj has been the pick of the bowlers for RCB so far this season, claiming 12 wickets in 6 matches at an economy rate of 6.70. The pacer, who has been bowling in good rhythm from the start of the year, has bowled the most dot balls in IPL 2023.
The 29-year-old has bowled a total of 82 dot balls in 24 overs across 6 matches so far. Siraj has in fact bowled a total of 14 overs in the powerplay, and a remarkable 57 of those 84 balls have been dots.
Siraj is also level with two other Indian pacers – Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami – for most wickets inside powerplay this season with all three bowlers claiming 6 wickets each in 6 matches.
Siraj has been a completely transformed bowler from last season. From conceding most sixes in IPL 2022, the Hyderabad-born pacer is now top of the list for most dot balls in the ongoing IPL 2023.
Speaking on Star Sports Cricket Live, Pathan said Siraj has looked a completely different bowler from last season and has taken on the responsibility of being the premier seamer in the side.
“Siraj has bowled excellently in the powerplay this season for RCB. He’s really making a difference for them. There is a big and positive difference in his bowling compared to last year. That is why his responsibility has increased being the premier seamer in the team,” Pathan said.
Siraj and Royal Challengers Bangalore will next be in action on Sunday (April 23) when they host Rajasthan Royals in the first match of the double-header, which also marks the Go Green game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
