IPL 2023, MI vs CSK: Ravindra Jadeja takes stunning return catch as umpire ducks to save himself – Watch

On the second ball of the ninth over, a full length delivery from Jadeja was smacked back straight at him by right-hand batter Green. The southpaw looked for evasive action for first but then channeled the world-class fielder in him to pick a blinder.

The 34-year-old kept his eyes on the ball and picked the catch with a reverse cup. The umpire behind him meanwhile was on his all fours to save himself. Jadeja grabbed the catch, turned back and just rolled the ball towards the umpire who was still down on the ground.

The sensational catch soon went viral and set Twitter on fire. Here is how the fans have reacted on Twitter.

Earlier, four-time champions Chennai won the match and elected to bowl first. Rohit Sharma (21) and Ishan Kishan (32) gave a flying start to five-time champions Mumbai but their innings collapsed soon after their dismissal.

Jadeja picked three wickets in four overs and gave away just 20 runs. His spin partner Mitchell Santner, also a left-hand spinner, picked two for 28 in four overs. Pacer Tushar Deshpande dismissed Rohit and Tim David.

Mumbai Indians lost their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight wickets. CSK defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after losing the IPL 2023 opener against Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets.
