Cricket fans in Lucknow and surrounding areas in Uttar Pradesh are eagerly waiting for the first game of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their city. It will be their first game when MS Dhoni-led CSK will be playing an IPL game in Lucknow.

Although, an official communication from the BCCI and IPL is yet to be made. However, there have been instances in the past when IPL fixtures have been changed due to polls.

Ensuring the deployment of police personnel in and around the stadium on election days gets tough for the local authorities. Due to the model code of conduct imposed by the Election Commission movement of public transport is also restricted in the polling areas.

In 2009, the IPL was moved to South Africa due to general elections in India in the month of April/May. Later in 2014, the first phase of IPL was held in the UAE due to general polls.
