Former CSK batter Suresh Raina had smashed a 16-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2014. CSK all-rounder Moeen Ali had also scored a 19-ball fifty against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2022. Rahane got past Shardul Thakur for the fastest fifty of this season. Shardul hit a 20-ball fifty against RCB .

The 34-year-old former Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain was bought by CSK at his base price of Rs 50 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction. He scored six fours and three sixes en route to his blazing 19-ball sixty – the third fastest by a batter against five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
The blazing knock by Rahane helped CSK accumulate 68 runs in the powerplay. In the fourth over from Arshad Khan, Rahane hit a six on the first ball and then followed it up with four back-to-back boundaries to collect a total of 23 runs from the over. He brought up his fifty with two consecutive boundaries off Piyush Chawla.
Here are a few Twitter reactions to the blazing knock from Rahane.
I’ve always loved Ajinkya Rahane’s batting. He’s star quality!

Can’t even ask for apology from Ajinkya Rahane. I need to write a letter, get it signed from PM, walk back to Chepauk from Delhi and then give it to Rahane on my knees.

Wow, Rahane was hitting it as sweetly as anyone has in the #TATAIPL2023. Always makes batting look pleasant.
