The unbelievable knock came against domestic pacer Yash Dayal, who was at fault for bowling low yorkers, that allowed a set Rinku Singh to flex his muscles and smack the ball around the park to give KKR fans a forever memory against the reigning IPL champions.
His batting overshadowed a special over by Rashid Khan a couple of overs ago as the Afghan spinner took the first hat-trick of the IPL with key wickets of Andre Russell (1), Sunil Narine (0) and Shardul Thakur (0).
Rinku Singh, meanwhile, maintained a calm demeanour during the batting collapse as the batter took his time to see out initial overs before setting himself up for what looked like an impossible chase, especially with the momentum in Titans’ favour.
The tall ask of 29 runs from the last over gave stand-in skipper Rashid Khan the confidence that unheralded Dayal can see out the ask. However, Rinku, who shot a six and a four in the penultimate over, saw it as an ideal opportunity to target the bowling side’s weakest link.
