Earlier, the southpaw scored 56 off 48 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), 37 off 32 against Gujarat Titans (GT) and 65 off 55 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). He is the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2023 with 209 runs at an average of 52.25. However, his strike rate is a lowly 114.83.
“What’s the point of scoring such runs. He needs to score fast. It’s like he is playing against his own team,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.
Further, he also opined that Warner was cooking stories and making an excuse for his wayward throw which allowed Tim David to complete the second run on the final ball and win a thriller for Mumbai Indians.
“I was trying to avoid Tim David from getting hit. Had I thrown on the bounce, the ball would have struck David, who was running towards the wicket-keeper. I went for a direct throw to the keeper, which didn’t go according to the plan,” Warner said after the match.
Harbhajan has reckoned that a fielder does not have so much time to think at that pressure moment.
“Also, I think it’s sheer excuse about what he said about the fielding part. Nobody has that much time to think when collecting and throwing the ball,” he said.
Delhi have lost each of their first four matches of the IPL 2023. They will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday in Bengaluru.
