IPL 2023: 38-year-old Faf du Plessis topples Sachin Tendulkar, Chris Gayle, Adam Gilchrist in elite list



The 38-year-old has now hit 18 fifties after age 35 – the most by any batter after crossing age 35 in the history of the IPL. Chris Gayle (17) and Michael Hussey (15). Former Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Adam Gilchrist.

The former South Africa captain also completed 9000 runs in T20 cricket. Overall, he is the 17th batter and the 9th fastest to achieve the milestone.

Further, du Plessis set the record for highest third wicket partnership ever by RCB. He partnered for 127 runs with Glenn Maxwell. The duo broke their own record (126) set in the match against Chennai Super Kings on April 17.

Du Plessis is currently the leading run-scorer in IPL 2023. In the seven matches the right-hander has played so far, he has scored 405 runs at an average of 67.50 and a strike rate of 165.30. He is the only player with more than 300 runs in the ongoing season.

The batter has played as an Impact Player in the last two matches for RCB. He is nursing an injury which he incurred against Chennai Supers King (CSK). Virat Kohli is leading the team in his absence.

In the match against Rajasthan, RCB posted 189/9 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
