Both the franchises have suffered key injuries throughout the IPL 2023 but managed to reach the playoff stages with Mumbai Indians taking the longer route as they qualified on the final day of the league stages. MI then made light work of Lucknow Super Giants to reach Qualifier 2.

Yash Dayal missed Qualifier 1 as well after the bowler returned to line up as an additional Indian pacer with Hardik Pandya not bowling in the last few games. Pandya, whose batting form has declined in the last three innings, hasn’t bowled in the last four matches.

Likely replacements Sai Sudharsan’s absence hasn’t affected GT much with their top- and middle-order in form while Yash Dayal was replaced by Darshan Nalkande in the last game.

MI injury update Tilak Varma returned to the side after an injury layoff and replaced Nehal Wadhera in the line-up. Both the batters have been in good form this season, leading to a selection headache.

Previous major injuries Mumbai Indians earlier lost pacers Jofra Archer and Jhye Richardson owing to injuries and were replaced by Chris Jordan and Riley Meredith respectively. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah missed the entire IPL and was replaced by Sandeep Warrier.
