The CSK pacer picked up two wickets (2/29 in 4 overs) as CSK beat Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier 1 to advance to the IPL Finals. This is the 10th IPL Final appearance for the Chennai side, and Chahar has played a big part in the season.
But in the Qualifier 1, Chahar had an injury scare at the end of the match. In the final ball, Mohammed Shami skied one and Chahar had to run a lot of yards. The pacer ran and completed a fantastic running catch, but on his momentum, it looked the player had pulled up.
The commentators noticed the same as the player looked in slight pain as the grimace on his face was quite vivid of that. As the match ended, Chahar joined a post-match discussion and the commentators asked about his hamstring and whether he injured himself.
Hamstring injury has been a problem for Chahar in the past, but to CSK fans’ relief, the bowler confirmed it was nothing serious.
“Everything okay. One more game to go,” Chahar said when he asked about his leg.
Chahar was excellent with the ball and picked up the crucial wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill, the GT openers. And he says doing the basics right was the main reason for his success.
“We bowled length. When you’re getting support from the pitch, you can keep it basic. And when it comes to semi-finals, it always comes down to handling the pressure. Chasing 172 in a semi-final with the crowd against you is high pressure,” Chahar added.
Chahar returned to action this IPL season after missing the entirety of last season with a hamstring injury. The 30-year-old has picked up 10 wickets in 8 matches so far.
