Pakistan Cricket Team Coaching Staff Announced

Former New Zealand cricketer Grant Bradburn has been appointed the head coach of the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side. Bradburn, 56, has featured in seven Tests and 11 ODIs for New Zealand before switching to coaching.

Former South Africa cricketer Andrew Puttick has been appointed the batting coach of the Pakistani side. The opening wicketkeeper-batter from South Africa played just one ODI for the Proteas but carries a vast experience of 173 First Class and 172 List A games. He has also played 83 T20s.

The position of Pakistan head coach fell vacant after former cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq’s term ended in February. The PCB appointed Abdul Rahman as the coach for the three T20I series against Afghanistan last month. He will now be functioning as an assistant to the head coach.

In an official statement, PCB said, “Mr Bradburn and Mr Puttick have been appointed for the New Zealand series and will arrive in Lahore on 11 April.”

The statement went on to add that the board will confirm the Pakistan team management for the post-New Zealand series following the completion of the relevant recruitment processes, which are presently ongoing.

Bradburn – who was previously the head coach of Scotland – has worked with Pakistan national men’s cricket team as the fielding coach between 2018 and 2020.

According to local media reports, former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur will return as team director after the New Zealand series.
