BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirms timeline to complete Varanasi Cricket Stadium

Uttar Pradesh is set to get its third international cricket stadium as it was confirmed that a stadium will be built in the holy city of Varanasi. BCCI has been working with the Uttar Pradesh government, which has bought a 31-acre land in the Rajatalab area of the city.

The land was handed over to the UPCA and BCCI at the end of last month, and now BCCI has already started their planning for the stadium.

The BCCI secretary Jay Shah and BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla visited Varanasi last month regarding the stadium and now the former has confirmed a stadium will be erected by the middle of 2025.

Uttar Pradesh already have a couple of international-level cricket stadiums – Green Park in Kanpur and Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The latter stadium is also hosting IPL matches and is the home ground of Lucknow Super Giants.
